Twilight the Movie, A Review
Last night we had a girls’ night and went to dinner and a movie. Dinner was at Pink Taco, which none of us had eaten at before. The waitress annoylingly declared us all virgins, and then went to get chips. I was really hoping for something a bit more interesting; the decor was straight out of Pier 1 and the menu wasn’t any different than any other Mexican joint. Well, except in the manner that it was seven bucks for a Corona.
For a fairly late showing on a Monday night, the theater was pretty full. I had high hopes the movie would make up for some of the shortcomings of the book, which you can read about here, here and here. Amazingly, they managed to translate all the terrible writing onto the screen. Lines that were cheesy in the book became even more cheesy when not spoken in my head. Edward and Bella pretty much stared at each other for 15 minutes until she declared herself in love with him. Even the action part that I feel Meyer threw in as an afterthought wasn’t as exciting as the book.
I’m not sure I could really tell you anything about Bella as a person. Other than that she used to do ballet as a child. Why is he interested in her?!? They’re the most boring couple ever. Ugh.
What do you think? Am I way off base?

I did enjoy not having to hear Bella’s internal dialogue about how oh so wonderful and handsome! Edward was.
